myPhone

myPhone, this design concept was for a full screen phone. No need to buy additional things to customize it and make it yours, just change your background. I incorporated different art styles into each ad to help display and enforce the customization factor. Each art style is somewhat line based and is about 30 years apart from each other.

These ads were all created in Adobe Illustrator. All of the image was created by me. Including the icons, backgrounds, etc. With the following exceptions. I did not create any of the typefaces used or the paper texture on the Pushpin style ad.
Memphis - What a better way to start a campaign than with a party? Well how about an art style that looks like a party? That's right, the art style Memphis with its wacky patterns, shapes, and colors is the perfect way to start off this art movement inspired phone ad. I chose to do an all black silhouette of the phone in this ad because it's the teaser, and the style choice pairs well with the Memphis style. The cord in this ad was simply based off of many of the crazy squiggles that can be seen throughout the Memphis style, with a hint of a balloon string feel to really get the party started.
Pushpin Style - For this ad I drew inspiration from the Pushpin Group and Victor Moscosco to draw out a very psychedelic vibe. This particular piece was strongly inspired by the Bob Dylan poster by Milton Glaser and blended with the psychedelic repetition seen in much of Victor Moscoso's work. This phone's cord was not inspired by calligraphy. Instead the inspiration for this cord was a series of images of well organized cables, mostly in offices. With this piece being so bright and still wanting to pay tribute to Milton Glaser's work, I chose to create a phone background that I could add a lot of black too but that still fit with the time period of around the 60s. I chose a lava lamp, it's fluid motion helped to tie it in with the rest of the piece.
Art Deco - I took the elegant yet geometric shapes of Art Deco and used them to frame the phone. A subtle metal grate texture background and brushed metal framework. This cord was also based off of calligraphy, the stroke which can be made with black letter, and then incorporated into the metal framework. The phone's background is the Chrysler building which is an Art Deco style building, with a purple sky to contrast the gold framework.
Art Nouveau - I took the elegant floral designs of Art Nouveau and turned them into circuts, while still retaining the 'halo' that traditionally framed the subjects head. I then created a smokey background as a tribute to Alphonse Mucha's ad for Job Cigarettes. The cord was turned into a calligraphy swash and made flat like that of the hair of Art Nouveau women. Finally, I used complimentary colors for the overall scheme.
